Comprehensible Input
Comprehensible input is a language learning hypothesis created by Stephen Krashen. Comprehensible input is about learning a language through inputs, mainly listening, at a level just above your understanding. Essentially, this is learning the language as you would have learned your first language when you were a baby.
Why Comprehensible Input?
Comprehensible input is a more effective learning method than the standard classroom environment. This mimics how we learn a first language. Comprehensible input will have you communicating and understanding much sooner than a traditional lesson plan.
What Will a Comprehensible Input Lesson Be Like?
The class will be taught in 100% English at a level that is just above what your current level is. This helps you reinforce what you already know while also learning new sentences and becoming more proficient. I will have picture books and magazines that are at your level that I can use to demonstrate what I am talking about so you can see an example in front of you as I am talking. If you are a complete beginner I will start with childrens books and discuss basic topics with you. Then you will get the chance to respond back to me in the English that you have just learned.
