IELTS Exam English

The IELTS Exam course is for prospective students in English speaking countries or people who are trying to migrate to an English speaking country.

What is the IELTS

The IELTS is an exam that most universities in English speaking countries require for students that are non-native English speakers. There is also a general IELTS exam that can sometimes be required for people looking to migrate to a country such as Australia, Canada, or New Zealand.

The IELTS Academic Exam

This exam is for students and consists of 4 sections: The listening section which is 30 minutes, the reading section which is 60 minutes, the writing section which is also 60 minutes, and finally the speaking section which is 11-14 minutes.

The IELTS General Exam

This exam is for people looking to migrate to certain countries and consists of 4 sections: The listening section which is 30 minutes, the reading section which is 60 minutes, the writing section which is also 60 minutes, and finally the speaking section which is 11-14 minutes.

Academic vs General Exam

For both exams the speaking and the listening sections are the same. The difference comes between the reading and writing sections. The academic exam focuses more on topics and vocabulary that students might come across in class, whereas the general exam focuses on every day topics.

How Is the IELTS Scored?

Scores are on a band between 0-9 with 0 being not answering any questions at all and 9 being expert level. These bands can be whole or half. These test scores are valid for two years generally. The score you need depends on the university you are applying to or the country you are migrating to.
